Planning and capturing surprise proposals is always an exciting experience! I had an incredible time working with Maureen and Philip to make their special day at Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park unforgettable.
Jordan Pond Proposal
When Philip first reached out about proposing to Maureen in Acadia, he was certain Jordan Pond was the perfect place. While I usually caution against this location due to the sheer number of tourists and the near-impossible parking situation (we were delayed by almost 20 minutes just trying to find a spot!), Philip was unwavering. This was the place for Maureen, and that was all that mattered.
To make the moment extra special, Philip put together what he told Maureen was a simple picnic. But in reality, there was no food in that bag—just memories. Photos, little mementos, and keepsakes he had saved throughout their relationship. One by one, he pulled them out, reminiscing about their journey together and sharing just how much she meant to him. All the while, I was photographing from a distance, capturing Maureen’s reactions as she slowly realized this was no ordinary picnic.
Then, as planned, Philip led her to the perfect spot with the iconic Bubble Mountains in the background. And right there, surrounded by the natural beauty of Acadia and the love they had built together, he got down on one knee and asked Maureen to marry him.
Spoiler alert—she said yes!
After the big moment, we spent the next 45 minutes exploring the area and taking engagement photos. The joy on their faces was undeniable, and the scenery provided the most stunning backdrop. And can we take a moment to talk about their outfits? I love the colors they chose to wear, and her hat!! What a fantastic hat!!!
Everything about this proposal was beyond beautiful. Philip’s thoughtfulness, Maureen’s surprise and joy, and the stunning Acadia landscape all came together to create a truly unforgettable moment. It was an honor to capture it all, and I have no doubt these two have an incredible future ahead.
